Newsletter Term 2 Week 6, 2025
Acknowledgement of Country
In the Spirit of Reconciliation, the St. Pius X school community recognises the ongoing role of the traditional custodians of this land, the Tubba-Gah peoples of the Wiradjuri nation. It is on their ancestral lands that we continue our learning journey together.
We extend that respect to Elders, past, present and emerging. Furthermore, all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our school community. Acknowledging their presence and spiritual connection to Country.
In the light of faith, we work towards a more accepting and humble school environment for all.
Principal's Address
Dear St Pius X School Community
was an incredibly proud Principal over the weekend as St Pius X made history by becoming the first school to fill all volunteer positions at our local Parkrun event. What an amazing achievement!
It was heartening to see such a strong turnout of grandparents, parents, students, and staff, all coming together to represent our school community with enthusiasm and generosity towards the wider community. Your willingness to give up your time and contribute to a local event like this truly reflects the spirit of St Pius X.
Thank you again for showing what community, service, and pride in our school really looks like.

Staffing Changes
I am saddened to share the news that our wonderful Kindergarten teacher, Miss Matilda Montague, will be taking leave for Terms Three and Four. While we will certainly miss her presence in the classroom, we wish her all the very best during her time away.
To ensure continued support and quality learning for all students, we have made some staffing adjustments for Semester Two. These changes are as follows:
- Kindergarten: Miss Kristy Isbester (Monday – Thursday) and Mrs Jo Taylor (Friday)
- Year Two: Mrs Gab Meredith (Monday – Thursday), with the Friday teacher to be confirmed shortly.
- Year Three: Mrs Suellen Hart (Monday – Tuesday) and Mrs Jonte Buckland (Wednesday – Friday)
- Year Four: Mrs Shannon Fisher (Monday – Wednesday) and Mrs Anne Bunn (Thursday – Friday)
- Year Six: Mrs Aimee Rose (Monday – Friday)
- Years One and Five: No changes
Kindergarten parents have already been informed of Miss Montague’s upcoming leave. Please rest assured that we are fully committed to ensuring a smooth and positive transition for all students. Your child’s education and wellbeing remain our highest priorities.
Spelling Bee
St Pius X had their best day ever at the Diocesan Spelling Bee in Wellington last Wednesday!
Mr. Schwager supported our students at the event and shared wonderful news throughout the day.
Unfortunately, poor Spencer (Year Four) was unwell and could not take part. However, Molly (Year Four) led the way for our Stage Two students, making it through to Round Six and into the final nine students before being stumped by the word ‘acceptance’. Super effort, Molly!
Olivia M. and Abigail H. (both Year Five) have been working very hard, and it showed—with both making it to the final six students in the Year Five and Six competition. Olivia went on to become the runner-up for the Stage Three students. What a wonderful achievement—well done, Abigail and Olivia!

Stage Three Canberra Excursion
Notes for the annual Stage Three excursion have been sent home as a hard copy to all students in Years Five and Six today. These notes are extremely important to continue the planning for the trip away. Please read the note very carefully and return both the medical note and permission notes by the due date (or before).
Winter Uniform
After this weekend (June Long-weekend) all students are to be in their complete winter uniform. This week will be the last week where summer uniform is a choice.
Again PLEASE have names on all items, especially jumpers.
If you need any items of winter clothing please visit our clothing pool and if you find some of the uniforms are no longer fitting your child/ren we are always happy to take donations.
Many thanks for your ongoing support.
Attendance Friday
We had many students absent from school last Friday and many absences are still unexplained. If this includes your child/ren please use Compass to update the attendance.
Pupil Free Reminder
Friday 4th July will be a school pupil free day. Staff will be spending the day with Educational Consultants focusing on the implementation of the new curriculum.
Have a great week.
