Newsletter Term 2 Week 10, 2025
Acknowledgement of Country
In the Spirit of Reconciliation, the St. Pius X school community recognises the ongoing role of the traditional custodians of this land, the Tubba-Gah peoples of the Wiradjuri nation. It is on their ancestral lands that we continue our learning journey together.
We extend that respect to Elders, past, present and emerging. Furthermore, all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our school community. Acknowledging their presence and spiritual connection to Country.
In the light of faith, we work towards a more accepting and humble school environment for all.
Principal's Address
Dear St Pius X School Community
It’s hard to believe that the term is over, the end of another great ten weeks of learning SPX! I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank children, families and staff for all their wonderful efforts throughout the term. Working with good people, who keep the childrens' needs at the heart of what we do, is what we are all about here at St Pius X. Thank you for all your kindness, help and support this term. Our school community is so amazing and I feel blessed to be a part of it. Best wishes to you and yours for a really lovely break.
Semester One Reports
Semester One Reports are released through the Compass portal this afternoon. If you have any trouble accessing your child’s/ren’s report please do not hesitate to contact the school office. If you have further questions regarding the content of the reports please contact your child's/ren’s teacher.
St Pius X Chatswood & Christian Brothers High School Lewisham visit
This Wednesday we are lucky to be having a visit from St Pius X Chatswood and Christian Brothers High School Lewisham. Fifty Year Ten and Eleven students / Pilgrims from the two schools will spend time with us as part of what their schools call Red Dirt Immersion, which is dedicated to reconciliation and deep learning.
We are still completing the finer details of the day, but we will be providing lunch (sausage sizzle) for all students (including our students).
We are looking at building the relationship between St Pius X Chatswood and ourselves over the coming years, so hoping this is the first of many meetings between the schools.
Our visiting students will be also joining us for the Year Three ‘Dingo Cake Stall’. Please read Mrs Bucklands information about the Cake Stall.
Year Six Escape Room Visit
This Thursday, Year Six will be catching a bus to St John’s College for a series of mathematical challenges as they try to escape from the room (Escape Room). The challenges involve solving puzzles, finding hidden clues, breaking codes, opening locked boxes, reading maps and more. After they escape, they will be spending time at the college to eat their lunch, join in some classes and a general tour. Normal school uniform is to be worn - unless your child is in Shannon (mufti).
Semester Two Staffing
I now have confirmation for the Year Two Friday Teacher for the remainder of the year. I am very happy that Mrs Nikea Goodwin will join our staff. Nikea has spent many years as a Learning Support Officer and Teacher at St John’s College and she has already had a few days on the Year Two class this term as a casual teacher.
Term Two Mufti Day
Congratulations to Shannon (green), who won this term’s house challenge. The members of Shannon are awarded with a mufti (casual clothes) day on Thursday. Please remember to dress appropriately (no thongs).
Pupil Free Reminder x Two
Friday 4th and Monday 21st July will be school pupil free days. Staff will be spending the days with Educational Consultants focusing on the implementation of the new curriculum.
Have a great week.

Athletics Carnival
Thank you to all our parents for making the effort to get your child/ren to our Athletics Carnival. This was one of the highest carnival attendance rates we have had. The school spirit and positive approach to activities was commendable. Well done St Pius X!
Attendance
Regular attendance enables your child to participate in extracurricular activities, collaborate with peers, and engage in classroom discussions, all of which contribute to their sense of belonging and overall wellbeing.
Regular attendance:
- fosters a positive and enriching school experience for students.
- ensures that students have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities, such as sports, clubs, arts, and other enrichment programs.
- provides for consistent participation in class activities that can help students build connections with teachers and peers.
- helps establish positive habits early in life. These habits, including punctuality and a commitment to participation, are valuable not only in school but also in future personal and professional endeavours.
If your child is avoiding participating in the opportunities provided by the school, seek to understand why.

Vinnies Winter Appeal
The Vinnies Winter Appeal is a charity event focused on helping individuals and families experiencing homelessness or hardship, with a particular focus on those in need during the colder months.
St Pius X School community should be incredibly proud of their contribution to the Winter Appeal this year. Our Can Drive was very well supported and all items will definitely help to stock the Vinnies Pantry for those in need.
Our Cozy Day raised $396.40 - WOW! We used this money to purchase much needed towels for Vinnies to be able to distribute to those in need.
It will be a pleasure to deliver all of these items to Vinnies this week.

Our School News
Whats happening in Year 3!
This term, Year 3 have been reading the novel Wandi by Favel Parrett. It tells the story of a young dingo pup and has taught us how important dingoes are to the Australian ecosystem. We’ve learned why it’s so important to protect them - and we’ve fallen in love with them!
To help support dingoes, we’ve decided to sponsor one through the Australian Dingo Foundation. To raise money for the sponsorship, Year 3 will be holding a cake stall at school on Tuesday, July 2nd, during lunch and recess.
All money raised will go straight to the Australian Dingo Foundation to help protect this iconic Australian animal.
