Newsletter Term 3 Week 2, 2024
Welcome to Country
In the Spirit of Reconciliation, the St. Pius X school community recognizes the ongoing role of the traditional custodians of this land, the Tubba-Gah peoples of the Wiradjuri nation. It is on their ancestral lands that we continue our learning journey together.
We extend that respect to Elders, past, present and emerging. Furthermore, all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our school community. Acknowledging their presence and spiritual connection to Country.
In the light of faith, we work towards a more accepting and humble school environment for all.

Olympic Day
As the Olympic Games inspire us with incredible stories of dedication and talent, we will be
holding our own Olympic Games tomorrow (Tuesday 30th July). We are absolutely thrilled to
have Sue-Ellen Lovett (ex Para-Olympian) address the school community, prior to the start of
our day. Our students will work in their Peer Support groups to create Torches and Flags for our
opening ceremony and then compete in a variety of sporting activities. We will conclude our day
with a closing ceremony and acknowledge our winning teams. This will be a wonderful fun filled
day that will allow our students to embed our values of KIND CONNECT RESPECT into this
fantastic initiative. A special thank you to Mrs Meredith and Miss Montague for organising the
event.
NAPLAN
Today, we will be sending home the NAPLAN results for students in Year 3 and Year 5. It is
important to remember that this is one assessment on one day. Student results reflect a
combination of what they know, how the assessment format suited them and how they were
feeling on the day. Their results should be used with other assessments to gain a true reflection
of their academic understanding.
As a school we analyse this data to help inform our strategic planning in the future. Our results
align quite closely with statistically similar schools. All students should be proud of how well they
coped with the actual assessment and their results.
Around the school
If you are walking in the streets around our school, please be extra careful of used syringes and
needles. Unfortunately, we have been notified that there have been several found in the streets
around school.
Drop Off and Pick Up
If your child is late for school it is essential that an adult comes into the school to sign
your child into school. If for some reason you are unable to come into school, please ring the
office, so that a staff member can sign your child in.
If you need to pick up your child early, please come to the office to sign your child out.
This is a legal requirement. It is also important to note that late drop offs and early pick ups are
classed as a partial attendance.
